According to Malinda's "widow's pension" documents for James Lee's service in the War of 1812, dated May 22, 1879, James and Malinda had lived in Rutherford County, Tennessee, two years; in Murray County, about 20 years; in Weakley County two years and then in Gibson County, Tennessee "to the present time." Application for land bounty was made in the year 1855 or 1856 and was granted in 1857.
