Dinner To Honor Chester Firemen

Honorary and former members of the Chester volunteer fire department will be honored at a turkey dinner to be held by the firemen Saturday night at 5 in the fire station. About 60 are expected at the event, including former fire chiefs, along with Thomas Campbell, 94, of Carolina Ave., the city's first fire captain. Some 90 pounds of turkey have been ordered for the dinner. Lester Kirschler and his committee are in charge. Harold Dickey will be toastmaster.

Councilman Of 1912 Dies

Thomas Sheridan Campbell, 245 Carolina Ave., Chester, who served as a councilman of the Second Ward about 1912, died Friday morning at 11:55 at his home following an illness of about four days. He was 94. He was born in the former community of Pottstown, near Hookstown, May 1, 1867, son of David Campbell and Barbara Potts Campbell. He was a retired stone and brick contractor and resided in Chester since 1892. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and a charter member of the Chester fire department. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Luella Allison Campbell at home; three daughters, Mrs. Florence Bontempt of Daytona Beach Fla., Mrs. Iantha Bryan of East Liverpool and Miss Elva Campbell of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a son, Audley Campbell of Chester, and nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren. Services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Chester Arner Chapel by the Rev. Robert Thomas. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park. Friends may call at the chapel tonight and Sunday.
