Doris L. Smith, 81 of Walnutport passed away Monday April 3, 2017 in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the wife of Nicholas A. Smith, the couple was married on December 21, 1957. She was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Lucille (Brightbill) Coffin. She was raised by her grandparents, Winnie and Samuel Coffin.

Doris was a teacher for the Parkland School District from 1957 -1960 and then for the Northern Lehigh School District from 1961-1992. She was a member of Christ UCC, Walnutport, and The Eastern Star. She volunteered many hours with the Slatington Library, and the Northern Lehigh Food Bank.

Survivors: Husband, Daughter; Jane A. and husband John F. Meckes of Nazareth. Grandson; Matthew R. Meckes. Sisters; Susan and husband David Kreiss, Joan Coffin and companion Jake Monn, Karen Schneck, and Lois and husband Ronald Szapacs.

Services: 4pm Friday April 7, 2017 Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St, Slatington. Calling hours 2-4pm at the funeral home. Private interment at Union Cemetery, Slatington.
