Adele was a proud native of Torrington, CT. She was born on March 4, 1924 to Anthony and Martha (Baltuskonis) Kemezis in Torrington. She was predeceased by her brothers Anthony and Joseph Kemezis, and her sister Mary Comporesi. Adele graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1945 and became an OR nurse at St. Francis Hospital. Later in her career she became a school nurse in the Hartford Public School System. She was a proud member of the St. Francis School of Nursing Alumni Association. She was a life member of the St. Francis Hospital, St. Thomas Seminary, and Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, as well as a member of the Point ‘O Woods Beach Association Women’s Club. Kemy had been an active member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph’s Ladies Guild, and the Hartford School Nurses Association.
She is survived by her children, whom she loved dearly, Martha M. Meaney (Francis Connors), Kathleen W. Meaney, Maureen A. (Jack) Dietze, Joseph V. (Renee) Meaney Jr., John A. Meaney. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Patrick J. (Erica) Meaney, Caitlin A. Meaney, Daniel E. Meaney, Michael J. Meaney, John ‘Jack’ F. Meaney, and Mark N. Meaney. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. She always loved entertaining, especially at the beach house. She loved cooking, reading, traveling (she went to Ireland 12 times!), and playing Bridge. She lived life to the fullest, and will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank the wonderful people who helped her in her final journey, including those at Hartford Hospital, the Hebrew Home, Brookdale at Farmington and Nancy ScottoDiluzio.
Friends may call at the Church of St. Patrick, 110 Main Street, Farmington, on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 3-7pm. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Saturday December 3, 2016 in the Church of St. Patrick followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford.
