He married Hattie M Northrup on 7 August 1884 in Jonesville, Saratoga County, New York. They had one daughter, Emily.

Obituary: "Charles O. Benedict, who formerly resided in Akron, died of diabetes at Asheville, NC Tuesday after a protracted illness. He went to North Carolina for his health last January. Mr Benedict was 52 years old." (Stark County Democrat 13 Dec 1907)
