SOPERTON -- Hubert E. Lawson, 66, died Aug. 18 at home. He was an Emanuel County native and retired from J.P. Stevens in Dublin. He was a Baptist.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Josephine Bright Lawson; three daughters, Donna Jo Self of Dublin, Judy Lynn and Rhonda Deann Lawson, both of Glenwood; two sisters, Evelyn Boutwell of Wrightsville and Edna Mae Brooks of North Augusta, S.C.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL: 2 p.m. today at Sammons Funeral Home, burial in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Wheeler County. -Savannah Now, Aug 1999 (thanks to Susan Barwick for the obituary)

My husband knew Hubert all his life, and I met him when we married. He was a really happy man with a good sense of humor. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with family and friends. He was a volunteer fire fighter for many years. He was the father of 3 daughters.
