Mabel Mudd

Mabel R. Mudd, 90, of Biggsville, Ill., died at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Oaklane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst, Ill.

Born March 29, 1910, in Biggsville, she was the daughter of Lysander F. and Margaret R. Gibb Rawhouser. She married Dewey W. Mudd on Dec. 10, 1941, near Biggsville. He died in May 1951.

Mrs. Mudd was raised in Biggsville, where she attended Cowden Country School and graduated from Biggsville High School. She worked as the assistant librarian at the Henderson County Library.

She was a member of Biggsville United Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, pianist, choir member and custodian, and was a member of the Ladies' Aid, Winnie Hockman Mission Circle and United Presbyterian Women.

Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Simmons of Biggsville; one son, Gail F. Mudd of Biggsville; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale Rawhouser of Biggsville; two nieces; and two nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Friends may call after noon Sunday at Sederwall Chapel in Biggsville, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Mudd will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Biggsville United Presbyterian Church, with J. Stafford Weeks officiating. Burial will be in Biggsville Cemetery.
