Bridgeport Standard Telegram: May 22, 1919

Charles Brunnemann, 73, of 55 Revere Street, died Sunday at the Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Brunnemann was a resident of this city for 60 years and was well known in the East End. He was born in Germany and came to this country when three years of age. He was employed by the Singer Manufacturing Co. for 20 years and for the past 10 years he had been retired. Mr. Brunnemann was a veteran of the Civil War [New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry] and was a member of Elias Howe Jr. Post No. 3. G. A. R.

Four sons. Frederick, Edwin, Charles and William, seven grandchildren and one great grandson, survive him. Also a sister. Mrs. Charles Rick of Waterbury. [Predeceased by wife Jane Platt and daughter Katherine Brunnemann Galpin.]

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Mortuary Chapel of August O. Baker. 1297 Stratford Avenue. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

The Civil War G.A.R. Post for Bridgeport was named after Elias Howe, Jr. — inventor of the sewing machine.

from the Headstone, My Great-Grandfather fought with Co. K 2nd New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry.

Company K was originally led by Captain William O. Sides, First Lieut. Edwin R. Goodrich, and Second Lieut. John S. Sides, all of Portsmouth.
