Bob was united in marriage to Mary Tremel on May 3, 1956, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Panama, lowa. They were proud parents of seven children. After their marriage they lived on a farm west of Earling. Bob's life was dedicated to farming. He was a member of the Pork Producers Association and of the Cattlemen's Association. Bob was named Pork Producer of the Year in 1984. He enjoyed good times with his family, spending time with his cattle, vacations in the mountains, air planes and going for scenic drives on Sunday afternoons. Bob was a lifetime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Earling.
Bob died May 21, 1999, on his farm near Earling, having attained the age of sixty-seven years, one month and three days.
ln addition to his parents, Joseph and Josephine, Bob was preceded in death by his infant son David.
He is survived by his children, Craig Gross and his wife LuAnn of Panama, lowa; Cindy and her husband Tom Moore of Phoenix, Arizona; Sandy and her husband Tim Thielen of Pavillion, Wyoming; Diane and her husband Lynn Martens of Portsmouth, lowa; Richard Gross and his wife Annette of Earling, lowa; Brad Gross and friend Lisa Jumps of Des Moines, lowa; Kari Gross and her fiance Dennis Kohles of Panama, lowa; eleven grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Leo Gross and his wife Ruth of Earling, lowa; Leona and her husband Elmer Babel of Columbus, Nebraska; Helen and her husband Marvin Bissen of Harlan, lowa; Alphonse Gross of Lincoln, Nebraska; Dorothy and her husband Henry Coenen of Woodbine, lowa; Gene Gross and his wife Sharon of Battle Creek, lowa; Marie and her husband Charlie Klein of Earling, lowa; Jerry Gross and his wife Sharon of Earling, lowa and Vern Gross and his wife Cathy of Palmdale, California; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
