Raymond was born at home and he farmed on the Thrun family farm, on McCornack Road, until 1970. After that he sold the cows and moved to Barrington to help his son, David with his florist business, called The Village Green.

His name given at birth was Carl Raymond Herman Thrun, but on his birth certificate he is listed as Charles Raymond Thrun. He always went by the name of Raymond though.

Raymond Thrun, 76, of Barrington, formerly of Elgin, died Tuesday, April 21, in Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington.
He was born July 3, 1910, the son of Charles and Anna Kremke Thrun.
He was a retired dairy farmer and had been employed by Village Green Florist of Barrington.
He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Barrington.
Surviving are his wife, Edna; two sons, David (JoAnn) of Barrington and Kenneth (Barbara) of Elgin; a daughter, Carolyn (Ronald) O'Kelley of Marseilles; a sister, Bessie (Walter) Witte or Barrington; six grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Louis; two sisters, Carie Olson and Mabel Fitt.
Services will be at 1 pm. Thrusday in St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 720 Dundee Ave., Barrington. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery on Highland Avenue in Plato Township, west of Elgin.
Visitation will be 5-9pm today in Stirlen-Pieper Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St., Barrington.
