Rosemarie Skaine, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

She was born June 11, 1936 in Grand Island, Nebraska, daughter of Warren V. and Marie (Kuehner) Keller. She married James Cole Skaine on June 4, 1957 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

She earned her B.A. in Sociology from the University of South Dakota in 1958 and her M.A. in Sociology from the University of Northern Iowa in 1976. She was the secretary for the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminology at UNI. As a Free Lance writer, she authored 15 books earning numerous awards for her work, and participated in the Teacher Exchange Program in China.

Survived by her husband of Cedar Falls; two sons, James (Nannette) Keller of Buffalo, NY, and Forrest Todd Skaine of Bloomington, MN; five grandchildren: Melissa Keller, James Keller, James “T.J.” Skaine, Derek (Mike Duffy) Heckler and Brent Heckler, and great granddaughter, Sarah Keller.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Camille Marie Skaine; and one brother, William Keller.

Memorial Services 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1st, at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, with visitation for one hour prior to the service.
