Wallace "Jack" Lamar Slade

Wallace Lamar Slade, always known to friends and neighbors as "Jack", died March 21, 2005 at the age of 89.

Jack was born June 6, 1915 in Eagar, to Jesse Woodruff and Jennie Emily (Merrill) Slade. He was a lifelong resident of Eagar. Jack served in the United States Army during the WWII years. He married Zelda Hamblin in July of 1946. He worked in excavation, but he was in his element on the back of a horse doing the things that cowboys do. He also served with the Apache County Sheriff's Posse for many years.

His survivors include sons Harvey Slade, Scottsburg, Ore., Ray (DeAnn) Slade, Eagar, and Jack Slade, Eagar; daughter Donna (Don) Goodman, Eagar.

Preceding him in death are his wife, Zelda Hamblin Slade; brothers Claude, Ray, Skin, and Tobe and sisters, Verna, Grace and Viola.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 25, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Amity Chapel. Visitation will commence one hour prior to the service.

Burnham-Jewkes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
