Walter Andrew Skernolis, “Wally,” a resident of Annapolis, Md., for the last 50-plus years, passed away Monday at his residence in Annapolis. He was born Sept. 17, 1937, in Hazleton, to the late Elizabeth and Walter Skernolis. Walter attended college at Yale University, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering. He was employed by Kennecott Copper, working at both their New York City and Maryland locations. Walter served in the Army from 1961 to 1963. His hobbies included basketball and politics.
Walter was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Skernolis (née Gillispie); a sister, Elizabeth Skernolis; and a brother, Joseph Skernolis. He is survived by a brother, Edmund Skernolis.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at John M. Taylor Funeral Home Inc., 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, Md. A private inurnment of cremains will take place in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, Md.
