Gregory Lynn Alexander, 65, of Decatur, IL passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family.

A service to honor and celebrate Greg’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Greg will be laid to rest in Hall Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to New Beginnings Church of God or American Cancer Society.

Greg was born on November 17, 1951 in Decatur, IL, the son of Harley “Alex” Alexander Jr. and Naomi (Morrison) Alexander. He married Lynda June Fling on December 28, 1975. Greg was the owner/operator of First Street Café in Springfield. He was a member of New Beginnings Church of God and witnessed to many for Jesus. Greg enjoyed fishing, camping and classic cars.

Greg is survived by his wife: Lynda June Alexander of Decatur, IL; daughters: Heather Alexander of Decatur, IL, Laura (Seth) Scott of Blue Mound, IL, Amber Alexander of Decatur, IL and Kimberly (Aniedi) Essien of Springfield, IL; grandchildren: Caidan Scott, Gwendelyn Scott, Leilani Essien and Annaliese Essien; brother: Kerry (Nancy) Alexander of Decatur, IL; sister: Gail (Tim) Poundstone of Assumption, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Aaron Michael Alexander and his brother: Terry Alexander.
