Mayor Glenda Faye Hamlett Cook, age 69, of Woodville, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 1:00pm at the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jack Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Cook is survived by her loving husband of 33 years – Lew Cook; sons – Todd (Sheri) Whitaker and Aaron Cook; brothers – Charles Hamlett, Larry (Barbara) Hamlett and Wayne (Carolyn) Hamlett; sister – Jackie Vaught; former husband – Larry Whitaker. She was preceded in death by her parents – Arthur Thomas & Flora Mae Hamlett.

Mrs. Cook will be remember for her devotion to her career of over 30 years teaching in Northern Alabama Schools and for many other civic activities including Vice President of Marshall-Jackson County Early Intervention Program and she served as Mayor of the town of Woodville, Alabama for two terms. She has attended the Swearengin Church of Christ faithfully for several years.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2013, from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
