Robert P. Teytand, Sr., 85, of State Route 20, died Wednesday, September 8, 2004, at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County in Cobleskill.

Mr. Teytand was born April 3, 1919 in Newark, New Jersey, the son of August P. and Louise (Vedder) Teytand.

Mr. Teytand retired in 1985 from the Schoharie County Highway Department where he was employed as a special laborer. He had also worked at the Bill Churchhill Farm in Jefferson for several years.

Mr. Teytand was a Boy Scout Leader for Pack 5 of Cobleskill and Troop 67 of Carlisle. He was a lifetime member of the Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Schoharie County Fire Association and County Fire Police. Mr. Teytand also belonged to the Carlisle Senior Citizens and the Schoharie County Senior Council. He was a member of the Carlisle Presbyterian Church.

He was predeceased by his wife, Glenda (Mackey) Teytand, who died June 2, 1990.

Survivors include a daughter and soninlaw, Vivian and Joe DeKeada of Bakersfield, CA; a son and daughterinlaw, Robert P., Jr. and Linda Teytand; five grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 10, at the Carlisle Presbyterian Church, State Route 20, with Rev. Bert Mayne and Rev. Carol Coltrain coofficiating.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, at the MerenessPutnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.

Burial will be in Carlisle Cemetery.
