SAMUEL ADAMS RITES HELD LAST WEDNESDAY
Douds-Funeral services for Samuel Adams, 78,were held last Wednesday afternoon at Mt. Moriah church. The Rev. M.D. Wyatt, assisted by the Rev. Robert G. Farr, had charge of the service. Music was by Forrest Hanshaw, Mabel Finney, Raymond Finney and Grace Morrison, with Verda Greene pianist. Pallbearers were W.A. Carson, John Edwards, Walter Hootman, Alden Doud, Dan Laughlin and Lester Bennett. Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Samuel, only son of David and Elizabeth Adams, was born May 20, 1970,(this must be an error, should be 1870?) on the farm northeast of Douds where he lived until about a year ago when he and his cousin, Sophia Platt moved to Douds. At an early age he joined the Methodist church at Mt. Moriah and truly lived its teachings. None who were in need ever appealed to him in vain and he was not backward in offering his help and giving it to those whom he thought were in need.

After the death of his father he cared for his mother until her death in 1921. During his mother's illness a cousin, Sophia Platt, came from the west to help care for her and then remained to make her home with him. Sam had been in poor health for the last several years and gradually became confined to his home where he passed away May 2, 1949.

His life has shown his belief in doing for others as he would that they should do to him. He will be remembered by those who knew him as one who served his God to the best of his ability. He leaves to mourn his passing, his cousin, Sophia Platt, a constant companion and helper, one uncle, several cousins and a host of friends.
