MRS MAE BRANT
Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Brant were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Waggener and Campbell chapel by Elder S. L. Billingsley of the Church of Latter Day Saints. He was assisted at the chapel by Elder Joseph Yeard and Elder Benjamin Wood, Cardston, Alberta; and at the grave by Elder Sterling Williams also of Cardston. During the service, Clide Carr sang two solo selections, accompanied by Mrs. Carr. Friends acting as pall bearers were J. Dean, Roy Cross, Charles Smith, N. M. Reiter, Morris Roes, and Ray Burnes. Interment was made in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
OBITUARY
Mae Bates was born May 9, 1886, at Tooele, Utah. When she was a small child her parents both died, leaving her an orphan. She made her home with an uncle and at the age of 16 was married to W. G. Fowler. Two children were born to this union. Mrs. Fowler was later married to Dr. H. W. Brant at Mercer, Utah, where their son, Owen, was born. In 1894 the family moved to Cardston, Alberta, Canada, nine years after the first settlers. At Cardston their daughter Isabelle was born. The family remained there for some time and then moved to Great Falls, and in 1913 to Geyser, Montana, where Dr. Brant died. Mrs. Brant then followed her profession of nursing for many years and came to Kalispell 10 years ago. Her son Owen died here in 1935. Mrs. Brant passed away May 24, 1940.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Wright of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mrs. Lynn Ross of Kalispell; and one son, Fred Fowler. There are also 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren surviving.∼Daughter of Ormus Ephriam Bates (1815-1873)
and Ellen B Meacham (1836-1872)
