Marilyn Abrahm Goldstein (Mer) of Dallas, TX passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the age of 82. She is originally from New Orleans, LA. Marilyn was a talented sculpture and ceramics artist and studied at Newcomb College in New Orleans and Brookhaven College in Dallas. She was also a community volunteer with such organizations as Temple Sinai Sisterhood, Brandeis University Women’s Community Board, Dallas Museum of Art, Gateway Gallery, Go Van Gogh, Council of Jewish Women and H.I.P.P.Y. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Melvin Goldstein and her parents Pauline and Michael Abrahm of New Orleans. Survivors include her 4 daughters, Fran Goldstein (Warren) of New Orleans, Susan Simon (Barry) of New Orleans, Paula Murphy (Richard) of Coppell and Beth Thompson (Brian) of Dallas, her 6 grandchildren - Melissa, Jamie, Tori, Garrett, Reid & Aaron, and her great granddaughter, Stella. She is also survived by her 3 siblings, Clare Wolfson Benjamin, Sabina Chapman Altman and Michael Abrahm, Jr. (Harriet) and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Marilyn and Melvin will be held on Tuesday, May 26, at Brookhaven College in Music Room D-208 at 2 pm. Refer to www.brookhavencollege.edu for a map. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Brookhaven College School of the Arts Program Support: Art Supplies (3939 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, TX 75244), or to Temple Sinai (6227 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans, LA 70118) or any cancer research/support organization.
