Clarence Raymond Farrar, Jr., 69, retired President & CEO of J. G. Industries, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, died January 2, 2004, in Flemington, New Jersery.

He was born August 7, 1934, in Gustine, Texas, to Clarence Raymond "Jack" Farrar, Sr., and Idella Bolton Farrar.

He married Dorothy Carpenter Farrar on March 10, 1962, in Stephenville, Texas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Texas Masonic Lodge #8, AF & AM, San Antonio, Texas, and was currently serving as Vice President of Heritage Square Foundation, Director of Erath County Habitat for Humanity, member of the Stephenville Planning & Zoning Committee, Board Member of Stephenville Museum (Chairman of Promotion & Fund Raising Committee), and a member of the Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council.

He started his retail career at the age of 14, working for R. E. Cox Company of Stephenville. He worked for Bond Clothes for 30 years rising from sales in Dallas to Vice President & Chief Financial Officer in the Bond's New York Office. In 1977, he purchased five (5) clothing stores in Louisville. During the next few years the company, Farrar-McWill, was expanded to a total of ten (10) stores. The company was sold in 1982, and Clarence joined J. G. Industries, Inc., (a retail holding company) in Chicago as Vice President. He retired in 2000 as President and CEO.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Farrar, of Stephenville, three sons, Russell Farrar, Kansas City, Kansas, Charles Farrar, Stepehnville, Texas, and Wendell Farrar, Louisville, Kentucky, one sister, Brenda Harmonson, Dallas, Texas, and one granddaughter, Kelly Farrar, Stephenville, Texas.

Vistation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Monday, January 5, at the Lacy Funeral Home.
