Dr Ralph D West, well known Macon County Veterinarian died at his home in the Itola Bridge Community in the Afternoon of May 14 He was 66 years old. A native of Haywood County,Dr West moved here many years ago and had practiced his profession until he became ill several months ago had been a member of the Masonic Order for 39 years. He was also a member of the Franklin Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow Emily Reno West: two sons, Ralph R West, of Andrews, Norman West of Franklin, Route 3, two sisters, Mrs D. C. Wise of Asheville, Mrs Gena Worley of Canton; and one brother, George M West of Canton. Funeral services were held May 16 at 11 A. M. at the Beaverdam Methodist Church near Canton. The Rev A. L. Maxwell, Rev C. W. Kirby, and the Rev M. L. Maybry were the officiating Ministers. Members of the Pigeon River Masonic Lodge in which Dr West was a member served as pallbearers and conducted the rites at the grave. Arrangements were made by Potts Funeral Home.
