Herbert F. Kremer, 82, of Bancroft, Idaho, passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999 at the Spring Creek Manor in Soda Springs, Idaho. Mr. Kremer was born Oct. 14, 1916 on the family farm in Crofton, Nebraska, the son of Joseph A. and Elizabeth Ausdemore Kremer, the sixth of ten children.

He was raised and educated in Crofton and helped his father farm with horses and later with a tractor. Herb was mechanically inclined and could keep the old tractor running. When he realized the farm was too small to sustain everyone in the family, he left home, traveling down the Mississippi River and through the southern states doing farm work.

He was living in the Seattle area and in landscaping when WWII broke out. He was inducted into the Army and served in the Pacific from Japan through Guam. He was discharged on Nov. 18, 1945 in Denver, CO.

He moved to Idaho where he married Dora Elizabeth Mariano on May 21, 1957 in Pocatello, ID. They moved to Bancroft where he has lived for 42 years. Mrs. Kremer passed away Jan. 27, 1997.

He was employed by Intermountain Gas Co., retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a past member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Pipefitters Union and the Sprinkler Fitters Union. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by one son and one daughter, Joseph H. Kremer and Dee and Ted Kiggins, all of Pocatello, ID; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Anton Kremer, Crofton, Nebraska, Wilford Kremer, Miller, South Dakota, and Lucy Paulsen, Coleridge, Nebraska. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Ann Hofhine, four brothers and two sisters, Alfonse, Clarence, Henry, Joseph, Sophie Hutchmeier, and Monica Wiese.

Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, Sept 8,1999 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Soda Springs, ID. Burial was in the Bancroft Cemetery with military graveside services by the American Legion. Services were under the direct of the Sims Funeral Home of Soda Springs.
