Jerry E. Hacker, age 71, of Mazon, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017.

Born April 17, 1945 in Harrison, Indiana, Jerry was the son of the late Morgan and Bernice (Crutchfield) Hacker.
He proudly served our country with the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966, as a seaman on the USS Canberra, the USS Rupertus, and on the USS Joseph P. Kennedy when it was involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a recipient of the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and was honorably discharged in 1966.
Jerry worked at Relco Locomotives in Minooka, IL, retiring from there after many years. He married Beverly Norton on April 17, 1993.
He was a member of the Mazon United Methodist Church and a long-time volunteer fireman with the Seneca Fire Department. Jerry was very active with the Mazon American Legion Post 352. He had a special love for the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Beverly; son Joe (Linda) Hacker; daughters, Julia (Jeff) Thumm, Amy Hacker; Annette (Terry) Tackett, Angie (Bob) Hopkins, Brenda (Ken) Funk, Amy Hansen, and Paula (Kevin) Middendorf; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carol (Hacker) Corn of Hamilton, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made in Jerry's name to the Mazon American Legion Post 352 Ladies Remodeling Fund or the Morris American Legion Riders Post 294.
Visitation for Jerry will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, located at 301 W. Washington Street in Morris. A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be at 4 p.m., officiated by Pastor Karen Fabian of the Mazon United Methodist Church. Military honors will be provided following the service by the Mazon American Legion Post 352. After the service, the Morris American Legion Riders Post 294 will lead a procession to the Mazon American Legion Hall where a luncheon will be served.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted with U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, 301 W. Washington Street, Morris, IL.
