Ora Mae Cheever, daughter of the late Daniel T. Huddleston and Charlottie Alma Davis Huddleston, was born July 31, 1922 in Thomasville, MO, and died May 17, 2004, at Alton, MO, at the age of 81 years. She was married in 1941 to Arthur Stewart. She was united in marriage Dec. 14, 1949, at Alton, MO, to Joe M. Cheever who preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all.
Survivors include five children; Edward Stewart and wife, Kay, of Birch Tree, MO; Joe Dan Cheever and wife, Joan, of Alton; Dale Cheever and wife, Pam, of Birch Tree, MO; Shirley Roberts and husband, Mike, of Alton; Glenn Cheever and wife, Fara, of West Plains, MO; two sisters, Mary Louise Anderson of West Plains, and Alma Crites of Alton, MO, 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, James Ray Cheever; an infant daughter, Sharon Cheever; and a sister, Esther Naomi Stewart.
The funeral was May 20 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with the Rev. Richard Wright officiating. Burial was in Huddleston Cemetery at Alton, with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer, MO.
Pallbearers were Darwin Cooper II, Chevron Cheever, Nathaniel Cheever, Douglas Roberts, Allen Barton, Dustin Roberts, Jesse Cheever, Dale Cheever II, James Ray Cheever Pitts.
