Elizabeth and Heman Allen married October 22, 1823 (transcript of marriages registered in New Haven, Connecticut). She accompanied him to Chile, where he served as US Ambassor for five years. The couple then returned to Burlington, where they lived at Grasse Mount. Elizabeth and their daughter died there. In 1973, their former home was added to the National Register of HIstoric Places.

The Old Saybrook Historical Society (Saybrook, CT) owns and displays a painting of Elizabeth.
