Gerald E. Mammel, age 83, of Sebewaing, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
Gerald was born April 14, 1933, in Sebewaing Township, to the late Harold and Ruth (Sting) Mammel. He married Carol Sieburg on August 12, 1961, in Fairmont, Minnesota at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed being a self-employed farmer, enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, woodworking, just being outdoors, vegetable gardening, making his rounds around the countryside, and talking to his friend Glen Vogel every day. He liked attending the CTK and USA sporting events. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and held many board positions while being a member (i.e. finance, Board of Education and was an usher).
Gerald is survived by his wife, Carol; children: Ursula (Stephen) Gangler of Unionville, Rebecca (Tom) Reiman of Rockford, and David (Julie) Mammel of Sebewaing; grandchildren: Christopher (Kayla) Gangler, Dakota Gangler, Seth Gangler, Megan (Kurt) Rowland, Isabella Mammel and Lily Mammel; great grandson, Colt Gangler; and sister, Donna (Thomas) Nicholson.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; his son, James "Jimmy" Mammel; and late infant sister, Ruth Mammel.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm.
The funeral service will be Monday, March 20, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Sebewaing.
Memorial donations may be given to Christ the King Lutheran School or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Michigan Chapter (549 Ottawa Ave NW #307, Grand Rapids, MI 49503).
