Whalen met and married his wife Lillian in North Dakota and the couple made Napa their home in 1946. In Napa, Whalen proudly operated Whalen Stensby Auto Repair for more than 35 years.
Whalen was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years Lillian. He is survived by his son Richard Stensby and his wife Terri; four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
He is also survived by Lillian’s sister Eileen Hanson.
Whalen was laid to rest with his wife Lillian.
In 2013, Whalen Stensby was presented with an honorary life membership in Napa’s American Legion Post 113, where he had been a frequent visitor and had many friends.
