Mrs. Britton had been in failing health since 1931 when she suffered a stroke. She did not become bedfast, however, until three days ago when her condition became critical. She was born in Shamokln, July 18, 1850, the daughter of David and Sophie Rote) Eveland, and resided here all her life.
Her husband, William Britton, whom she married when a young woman, preceded her in death twenty-five years ago. Surviving are the following children: William, of Baltimore; Morris, James and Mrs. Reuben Persing, of Tharptown; George, of William-sport; Mrs. Charles Whennen and David, of Shamokin. Twenty-eight grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren also survive.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the home with Rev. Edward O. Butkofsky, pastor of St. John's Reformed church, officiating. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
