Mrs Anna Maxwell, prominent organist and composer in her own right, died at Los Angeles, Calif, and her body is being returned to Clarinda, her birthplace, for burial Saturday afternoon.

Her son, Leland, was flying through the south on business for the General Electric Company when he was called by her sudden death. He called his cousin, Mrs Don Swanson, through whom local arrangements are being made. He planned to go on to Los Angeles and will accompany the body here. Leland's wife will meet him here.

Mrs Maxwell was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Fred Tomlinson. Her father was an early harness maker. She was of a musical family, and became an artist with the organ, playing at the Methodist church for several years.

She later followed her profession, giving lessons and playing at Ft Wayne, Ind., and in Los Angeles, Calif. She has had numerous compositions published. She stopped in Clarinda about a year ago, visiting relatives and giving a short organ recital for friends. She had been back east then concerning publication.

She is survived by two children. Her daughter, Marvel, or Marilyn Maxwell as she is known in the movies, will be unable to come for the funeral. She is on a trip abroad with the Bob Hope show, headed for England. Leland talked to her Tuesday. Mrs Maxwell's son, Leland, is from Schenectady, NY, where he is in the offices of General Electric company. He was in Mexico when he had word of his mother's death. Her son Paul died several years ago as result of an accident at Ft Wayne,Ind, where he was official in the radio station. A brother Tom, of Los Angeles and sister, Mrs Pearl Newell, of Junction City, Kan, are also living.

The funeral will be held from the Methodist church Saturday a 2:30 in charge of Rev Lester Greenwood and Foster-Harmon Funeral Home making arrangements. Mrs Helen Hall-Hoskinson and Mrs Harriett Davidson are in charge of the music, carrying out requests from the daughter, Marvel, who telegraphed her desires concerning the sons to be used.
