Elizabeth M. "Coose" Ervin, 100, of Four Seasons Health Care Center, died Friday at 9:30 p.m. at the center.
She was the owner of the former St. Francis Hotel in Columbus and the former Metropole Hotel in North Vernon. She was a member of the Columbus Business and Professional Women, a charter member of the Grammer Presbyterian Church, and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Columbus. She also belonged to the Alert Order of the Eastern Star. She formerly served as a volunteer pink lady at Bartholomew County Hospital and was a senior Queen, representing Bartholomew County, in 1986.
Funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday by Myers Funeral Service at their Reed and Jewell Chapel, the Rev David M. Liddle Jr. oficiating. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Columbus, First Presbyterian of Grammer, or the Four Seasons Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 8, 1888 in Bartholomew County, she was the daughter of John Simeon and Margaret Isgrigg Davis. She married Ira A. Ervin on Oct. 8, 1915. He died in 1949.
Survivors include niece, Jane F. Murphy of Columbus; two nephews, Harold Friedersdorf of Rock Creek Township and John R. Ervin of Shelby County.
She was preceded in death by a son, Max Ervin (September 2, 1921).
