VILLA GROVE – Joan Lucille Elder, 84, of Villa Grove passed away on March 12, 2017.
She was born on Dec. 31, 1932, to Harry and Nellie Gardner and grew up in Arcola. She met Darrell (Ted) Elder of Villa Grove and married on Aug. 3, 1951.
She is survived by four children, Debbie Patterson (son-in-law Steve) of Lerna, Dennis Elder of Villa Grove, Gary Elder of Villa Grove and Dale Elder of Champaign.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Cory (Wendy) Patterson, Kristy (Mike) Cervantes, Heather Elder, Derrick Elder and Jamarie; and three great-grandchildren, Haley Cervantes, Collin Patterson and Logan Adams, with another one on the way in September.
She is also survived by one sister, Betty Thomas of Philo.
She worked at Villa Grove school cafeteria for many years.
She was a loving and caring person, and loved to be around her family, especially at special holidays. She is and will be deeply missed.
Services to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 15. Visitation will be at 2 p.m. with the service at 3 p.m. at Joines Funeral Home, Illinois 130 South, Villa Grove.
