Ida Brooks was born Jan.5, 1882 in Arkansas. She was raised by Harriet & John McPeters near Byrd's Store,Brown County,Texas. She married John Henry Teague on Dec.30, 1899. He died on Dec.9, 1932. Together they had 3 daughters: Willie, Elsie & Lena and 3 sons: Charlie, Andrew & John Jr.
On March 25, 1940 Ida married Robert Hill Wooten. He died July 20, 1972.
Ida died tragically at her home in Cross Plains, Texas after she succumbed to burns received when her clothing caught fire from a heater. She was 95 years of age at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by daughter Willie & son Charlie.
