This isn't a grave of anyone famous. It is that of a 12 year old boy, who was struck and killed by a car on an icy road 50 years ago. I wish his marker provided more details.

His full name was Andrew James Bartels. He was born on August 15, 1954, in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He died on February 11, 1967, in Martinsville, New Jersey. He was buried in his Boy Scout uniform in the Grandview Cemetery in Allentown, Pennsylvania, in the family plot.

Andy and I were friends, 7th grade classmates in Adamsville School, and fellow Boy Scouts in 1967. His sudden death marked the end of innocence for me and my peers. We all were stunned that someone our age could be taken from life in an instant.
Andy's life came to an untimely end half a century ago. I mourned his passing then... and I still miss him 50 years later. RIP Andy.
