Henry was the son of Jeremiah & Paulina "Lina" Mitchell Tucker. He married Sarah Thomas and the couple were the parents of Lina Poynter Tucker.

He married Elizabeth Osborne, the daughter of John Calvin Osborne & Mary Elizabeth Osborne on October 18, 1894 in Woodford County, Kentucky. Before his illness, Mr. Tucker earned his living by farming his own land. He passed away from the effects of influenza, with a duration of eight days, complicated by paralysis and chronic myocarditis, both with a duration of six years.

•Obituary-Henry Tucker, 78, of Lexington, Kentucky, died at his residence yesterday morning. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Tucker; three sons, Thomas and James Tucker of Lexington, and William Tucker of Woodford County; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Meekins of Midway, Minnie Tucker of Lexington, Mrs. Jenny Wise of Pisgah, Miss Bennie Frances Tucker and Mrs. Lina Younger of Lexington. A sister, Mrs. Demaree Moore lives at Maysville. Funeral arrangement announcements will be made later.

Note: Henry was enumerated as James H. Tucker, b. 1853, in the 1860 census of his parents' household and b. 1851 in the 1870 census. The DC lists his YOB as 1849 and headstone inscription as 1850.
