Obituary: The Morning Press, Bloomsburg, PA, Mon., April 21, 1969
Mrs. C. Howard Bower, seventy-one, the former Helen G. Sponenburg, 534 E. Eighth Street, Berwick, died in Berwick Hospital yesterday at 5:45 a.m. She had been a patient for two weeks and had been in ill health for five years.
She was born in Pottsville and resided in Berwick for fifty years. She and her husband would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday.
A member of the First United Church of Christ, Berwick, she was also a member of the Circle B. and Berwick Garden Club.
Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. W. Richard (Elaine) Armstrong, Columbus, Ohio; one son, Loren Bower, Muncy; two grandsons and one brother Fred L. Sponenburg, St. Clair.
Funeral services will be held at two p.m. Wednesday from the Kelchner Funeral Home, Berwick, with Rev. Russell Mengel, pastor of her church, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Market Street, Berwick.
