Smithfield, NC: Mr. Amos Daniel Simmons, Sr. age 93 of 302 Everett Lane died Wednesday at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Friday at Asbury United Methodist Church in Smithfield. Officiating will be Revs. Jesse Staton and Bobby Smith. Burial will follow in the Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens, Smithfield.

Mr. Simmons was born on February 12, 1924 in Johnston County to the late Everett and Bessie Flowers Simmons. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Allen Simmons; brothers, Ray and Russell and sister, Margaret. Mr. Simmons was a retired automotive machinist and there was nothing he could not repair. He was also a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Smithfield.

Surviving include sons, Amos D. Simmons, Jr. and wife, Betty of Smithfield; Everett Allen Simmons and wife, Debbie, of TN; daughter, Winnie O'Brian and husband, Woody of Wilson; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; brother, Lacy Simmons of Smithfield; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday.

Flowers are welcomed, however, memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 215 East Caroline Ave., Smithfield, NC 27577 or SECU Hospice House, P.O. Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577.
