Information for this burial was mentioned in a 1943 column by historian, Charles S. Hick. However, it appears he had confused Ulrich/Julius Thumann with his brother(?), Alois Thumann. Mrs. Alois (Charlotte) Thumann owned the hotel. In one report, funding for the land and hotel came from Charlotte's earnings from a prior career as a midwife in New York City. However, Alois' brother, Ulrich/Julius Thumann was the father of the children mentioned by Mr. Hick. The burial info is likely to be for Ulrich, as it was Ulrich's family that was buried at the Jeffersonville Catholic Church.

Excerpt from: "Old Landmarks in the Town of Callicoon", by Charles S. Hick, Town Historian - Sullivan County Record, Sept., 23, 1943:
"Alois Thuman died in 1867, as indicated on his tombstone in the cemetery back of the Catholic church in Jeffersonville; but he had relinquished his management of his hotel to a son Fred before that. He had several children. The last one, Mrs. Kate Wolf, died at Roscoe within the past year. I learn from William Breiner that
one son went to California to seek his fortune in the gold fields and lost his life by falling down a mining shaft. The family, after hearing of his death, had a funeral mass said for him in the Catholic church at Jeffersonville."
