Obituary.
MR. A. ECKART.
The death of another old pioneer (Mr. A. Eckart) occurred suddenly on Tuesday night, the 26th of May (writes our Hillside correspondent). Mr. Eckart was about during the day as usual, and was in high spirits. After a hearty supper he retired. About an hour later, Mr. Echart sat up in bed, then, suddenly, his head drooped and he fell back dead. He was an old identity and highly respected, and had reached the extremely old age of 91 years and eight months. He was born at Mecklenburg, Germany, but, at an early age, he made his way to Copenhagen, Denmark, where he married and resided for some years. He subsequently immigrated to Queensland with his wife and family, and was for some years engaged in shepherding at Normanby Station. He and his son, then selected land at Hillside, where deceased had resided ever since. He leaves a widow and one son.
