MARTIN ADAMS, SR, 88, SUCCUMBS TO ILLNESS
Martin Adams Sr., who had for the past several years resided with his son, Martin Jr., of this city, died Friday, Jan. 4, of infirmities of old age. Funeral services were Sunday afternoon from the home and later from Christus Lutheran church, with Rev. E. C. F. Stubenvoll officiating with burial being made in Graceland cemetery. He was 88 years of age at the time of death.
The deceased was born in Russia on Feb. 2, 1846. In 1866 he was married to Helen Lang in Russia, who passed away on May 5, 1927. Thirteen years after their marriage the couple came to America arriving here in 1879 and for a while resided at Riverton, Neb., and later at Scappoose, Ore., before coming to Clintonville in 1890 when they moved to a farm south of this city. They continued to reside on the farm until 19 years ago when they moved to town.
The deceased is survived by the following: Helen (Mrs. Anton Bangert) of Oshkosh; Gustave, Martin, Tillie (Mrs. Martin Lyons) of this city, and 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
