Rosalie Mae (Dimon) Smith was born on Sunday; July 22, 1928 in Newton; Jasper County, Iowa. She was the daughter of James A. and Elizabeth (Hummel) Dimon. Rosalie was united in marriage with William A. Smith in Newton on Sunday; June 16, 1946. Rosalie lived in Newton until 1949. Since that time she has made her home in Colfax; Jasper County, Iowa. Rosalie worked as a waitress for eleven years, then Smokecraft for seventeen years, and then Mitchellville Nursing Home in Mitchellville; Polk County, Iowa for eleven years before retiring at age seventy-two. Rosalie loved having family and friends around for big cookouts or just a family dinner. She also thoroughly enjoyed attending her grandkids sporting events. Rosalie belonged to the Newton Christian Church. She was also member of a bowling team. Rosalie Mae (Dimon) Smith, 78, passed away on Wednesday; January 24, 2007 at Skiff Medical Center Monarch Wing in Newton. Those left to mourn her passing are her children Deborah (Ed) Day of Colfax, Dixie Northway of Colfax, Doug (Pam) Smith of Sheldahl, IA, Duane Smith of Colfax, and Dennis Smith of Colfax. Those also left to honor her memory are seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1998, Brothers Harry, Leroy and Ivan Dimon and one Sister, Grace Palmer. May they all rest in peace. Visitation for Mrs. Smith will be held on Friday; January 26, 2007 at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Saturday; January 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax with burial following at Colfax Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Rosalie Smith Memorial Fund or Colfax-Mingo High School Sports. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com
