Gertrude Bohn, age 85, of Oswego, IL, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at her residence. She was born July 13, 1931 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Richard and Marguerite nee Siemsen Deppe. She graduated from East Aurora High School in 1949 and after attended the Chicago Musical College where she earned certificates to teach piano for grades one through five and taught at East Aurora grade schools from 1950 to 1954. She taught private lessons in Aurora and Oswego. She was a homemaker, business associate with her husband in Bohn's Food Store in Oswego, IL and after moving to Arizona in 1985, was an Administrative Assistant in a branch office of Prudential Mull-Smith Realtors in Sun City West, AZ for ten years. As an active member of the Oswego Presbyterian Church, she was a member of the women's circle groups, Bible School assistant, Sunday school teacher and for a short time was Superintendent of the Junior Department. Gertrude was an active member of the Oswego Women's Civic Club and served terms as a board member, treasurer and president. She was a publicity chairman for Oswego Days. For the eight day celebration in 1976 she was Co-chairman of the event and went on to be Chairman in 1977. She was also a member of the Kendall County Historical Society, the Little White School Museum and the 19th Century Women's Club. She is survived by her children Kevin (Vickie) Bohn of Oswego, IL, and Reta (Rick) Hillerud of Oswego, IL, grandchildren Dustin (Fiancé Mallory Weathers) Schemdeke, Stacey Schmedeke and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth (whom she married in 1954), and a sister Rita Johnson. 347
