Robert Eugene Rice died February 12, 2017, in Houston.
Born Jan. 28, 1922 in Duncan, OK, son of Judge Eugene Rice and Leola Irby Rice. Graduated Shattuck Episcopal High School, Faribault, MN.
Entered Dartmouth College, 1940. Volunteered for service 1942 in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. After military service, resumed his studies at Dartmouth, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Enrolled University Of Michigan School Of Law, 1946. On June 28, 1948 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Robert married Mary Elizabeth McKinney, daughter of Geraldine L. McKinney and Collin Clay McKinney, Jr. Graduated law school 1949, admitted to practice law in Oklahoma 1949.
Robert and Mary moved to Duncan where he opened his law office. Elected County Attorney in Stephens County, OK in 1950. Resigned 1951 to join the Legal Department of Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Company, now Halliburton Company. Named Vice President Legal of Halliburton Services 1969. Retired Jan 28, 1987.
Moved to Houston 2008, where they lived at the Forum at Memorial Woods. Survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Elizabeth McKinney Rice. Robert also survived by son, Judge David Eugene Rice and his wife, Gail Elliott Rice and son, Robert Collin Rice and his wife Robin Alexis Rice, together with six grandchildren: Rachel Elizabeth, Robert David and Matthew Collin, Abigail Marie, Elizabeth Anne and Robert Elliott.
Memorial service to be held at the Forum at Memorial Woods. Mr. Rice will be interred with full military honors at the Houston National Veterans Cemetery.
