"He built and lived in a log cabin located on Clovis Street in Bluefield, West Virginia. It originally had only four rooms, two upstairs and two downstairs. In 1917, the cabin was sold and by 1930 was moved to the campus of Bluefield College. It was the scene of many social gatherings by the college faculty. Miss Jesse Le Grand, a French instructor, lived in the remodeled house for years. When the new gym and auditorium were built, the cabin was dismantled and relocated on the entrance road to the Mercer County Airport."
