ZEBULON – Melvin Person Hollifield, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday.
A native of Wake County he was son to the late Isaac Fletcher & Annie Genova Durham Hollifield. He was owner and operator of Melvins Welding Service in Raleigh for over 20 years. He served his country in the U. S. Airforce. Melvin was a good man who loved his family and helped so many people throughout his life. He will always be remembered. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Hollifield, sister, Katherine Alford, & brother, Earl Hollifield.
He is survived by his wife and best friend Connie Malcolm Hollifield of the home, sons, Dennis Hollifield (Lana) of Louisburg, Craig Hollifield (Tracy) of Wendell, James Hollifield (Sherry) of Clayton, Kris Hollifield of Missouri, Vickie Simmons (Keith) of Greensboro, 2 brothers, & 6 grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 pm, Strickland Funeral Home, 211 W. Third St. Wendell & other times at the home. www.stricklandfuneralhomes.net
