Our great great great aunt. Mary was the daughter of Irish immigrants Samuel Dornon & Ann Steele Dornon. She was raised in New Alexandria, Westmoreland County, PA. Her family was active in the New Alexandria Reformed Presbyterian Church.
She married Robert Forsythe Pollock in 1883. They had two daughters, Margaret & Sarah. Their son Samuel R Pollock, died young and is buried at Gilgal Cemetery in Indiana County, PA
She was widowed by 1892, when her husband died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been called upon to appear before a session of the church he was a member of (Oakland Covenanter Church in Marchand, PA.), due to a statement he made regarding church elections, scheduled for Jan 20, 1892. He was apparently unable to face this action, killing himself the day before the session.
For a brief time Mary and her daughters resided in Iowa with her brother Alexander M.M. Dornon, also widowed, and his children at the time.
