Raymond D. “Buck” Butters, 85, of Cannelton died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Golden Living Center-Lincoln Hills.

He was born Nov. 24, 1931, in Vevay to John and Hyacinth Rayles Butters. He was a 1952 graduate of Vevay High School. He was a Navy veteran. A boilermaker for 23 years, he worked for Local 374, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Freewill Baptist Church and Tell City Masonic Lodge 623. He enjoyed repairing small engines, passing out candy to people, attending church and spending time with his family.

He is survived by two children, two sisters, ; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie E. Beach Butters; one son, Donald Butters; his parents; one sister, Louise Hizer; and four brothers, James Butters, John Butters, Charles Butters and Les Butters.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Freewill Baptist Church in Cannelton. Burial will be in New Cliff Cemetery.

Friends may call at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel, from 3 to 7 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Friday. A Masonic service will be conducted at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Freewill Baptist Church.
