Julian Brown was born in Illinois, a son of James William Brown and Harriet Elizabeth Bacon. He had siblings Zaida Corrine "Zada", William Kenneth and Faye Clarice.

His family lived in Blackwell, Oklahoma by 1910 where his father was a farmer and carpenter. They were all still living together there in 1920.

He graduated from the University of Illinois.

By 1930 Julian was in Middletown, Ohio, a lodger in a rooming house. He was a salesman for a steel company.

In 1934 he married Margaret Louise Bright in Tulsa. They had daughters Nelle and Thelma.

By 1940 they were living in Lynchburg, Virginia. He registered for the draft that year and later served during World War II.

He was an engineer and sales manager for the Harter and Marblecrete Stone Company in Oklahoma City.

Julian and Louise moved to Sun City in 1968 from Oklahoma City.

He was a member of the El Zaribah Shrine.

He was survived by his wife Louise, daughters Mrs. Nelle Wright of Sun City and Mrs. Thelma Weeks of Muskogee, Okla., and two sisters out of state.
