Killis Clayton VanHook, son of Mrs. Tabitha Erp VanHook and the late James Robert VanHook died August 31 at the Veterans Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio following an illness of five years.

He was born June 18, 1911 and was united in marriage to Beatrice Weddle in 1946. To this union one son, William VanHook of Drum was born. He is also survived by one daughter, Geraldine VanHook, Dahl, by a previous marriage.

At an early age he became a member of the White Lily Baptist Church and at the time of death he was a member of the Colo Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army from March 3, 1942 to February 15, 1945, as a Private First Class attached to Batter B. 561st FA Bn. He was a farmer in the Dahl community.

Other than his mother, wife, and children, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Janie Slavey and Mrs. Daisy Brinson, both of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and Mrs. Myrtle Music, Carey, Ohio; and one brother, Cecil VanHook, Helenwood, Tennessee.

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Piney Grove No. 1 Baptist Church with the Rev. Milford Hargis and the Rev. Edmond VanHook officiating. Burial was in the Piney Grove Cemetery at Drum.
