Halstead Camp Lindsley was born November 21, 1880, at Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan, to American parents John Lindsley (1845-1909) and his wife Virginia nee Thayer (1856-1941).

He had a younger brother Thayer Lindsley. The family moved back to the USA about 1898.

Halstead became a mining engineer and was the president of a mining company, His interest in mining greatly influenced his brother to pursue that same career. They had mutual business interests in that field that were very successful financially.

On November 30, 1909, Halstead married Margaret Ashton Stimson (1888 - 1956) at Dedham, Massachusetts, USA. In 1910 they lived at Telluride, San Miguel, Colorado, USA. Their first daughter Joan Ashton Lindsley was born October 31, 1913 (d. 1971).
Their second daughter Leonara Lindsley was born March 13, 1917 (d. 1945).
Halstead and Margaret divorced.

On July 4, 1921, he married Emily Low Bacon at Denver, Colorado, USA.

They had a daughter Virginia Lindsley (1924-1990).

In 1930 they owned a home at Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA.

Halstead Camp Lindsley passed away March 22, 1945, at Manhattan, New York County, New York, USA, and is buried in Church on the Hill Cemetery in Lenox, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, USA.
