{21 Mar 2017, Revised 21 Feb 2022: Biography of Myrtle by Grant Collar, b.1931. I was a close friend and neighbor of Myrtle's daughter, Bonnie June ALBARS Bailey (1931-1996) who lived 804 W Lane St, Yreka, Siskiyou County, California during 1970-1975 when I and my family lived about 200 yards away at 213 S Fairchild St. I_taught two of Bonnie's sons algebra at Yreka High School.

Myrtle Evangaline HASTINGS, b: 13 Aug 1908 near Klamath River post office, Siskiyou County, d: 04 Dec 1987 Vallejo, Solano County, California (date of birth and date/place of death per California Death Index), cremated and buried in the same space as her second husband in Evergreen Cemetery, Yreka. She first married Ernest Arthur ALBARS (1905-1934) and had two daughters: Betty Jean ALBARS (m1: Shinar, m2: Robinson), b:_04 Apr 1930 (was 90 in 2020 and still lived in the Hornbrook house of the 1930 Census) and Bonnie June (1931-1996), both born in or near Hornbrook, Siskiyou County. In the 1940 Census of Yreka, Myrtle was a waitress and had not remarried. She and her daughters (who had completed second grade) lived in the 804 W Lane St household of Dunphy Thomas LONG (1900-1970, a lumber camp saw filer) and his sister, Rena Stroud (a divorced waitress). Later, Myrtle bought the 804 W Lane house - probably as a wedding gift to Bonnie.

Myrtle m2: (estimated) 1947 to Richard WILSON (1902-1984), who retired as a Fire Chief in Vallejo, California. Myrtle worked in watch repair at the nearby Benicia Arsenal, Benicia, California. They lived 214 Illinois St, Vallejo. At age 20 and before marriage, Myrtle's daughter, Betty Jean, became pregnant with son, Walter Robert ALBARS (1951-2003). He was adopted by Richard and Myrtle and thus became Walter Robert WILSON. Myrtle "was a good person and I loved her with all of my heart" (quoting granddaughter Sandra Marie "Sandy" BAILEY Elliott Spead, age 65, 23 Feb 2017 email).

As a point of interest, Myrtle owned several properties in Siskiyou County: 1004_Miner_St (the oldest and main street of downtown Yreka); house_at_804_W_Lane_St, Yreka; house in Hornbrook where her daughter, Betty Jean, still lived in 2020; house just under the Klamath River Bridge that connects Interstate 5 to Hwy 96 toward Happy Camp; and one square mile of the Klamath River Forest at_Dutch_Creek off Hwy 96 (probably the Dutch Creek so loved by grandson, Daniel Ernest BAILEY).
